Studio Policies & Guidelines

Arrival:  Students should arrive on time, dressed, and ready to begin class at their designated class time.   Students arriving more than 10 minutes late for class may be asked to observe rather than participate.  This is due to the importance of warming up at the beginning of class.  As tardiness causes distractions, please be considerate of fellow students and arrive on time.

Dress Code:  Students must arrive dressed in appropriate dance attire:  solid-color leotard and solid-color tights.  Please see the "Class Descriptions & Attire" under the Class Information tab for class-specific clothing and shoes.  Hair must be pulled back in a pony-tail or bun (shorter hair styles must be away from face).  No jewelry, other than stud earrings, is allowed during class for safety reasons.  Students will be asked to change into the required dance attire or obstain from class if not dressed appropriately.  Students must wear a cover up and street shoes upon entering and exiting the studio.

Attendance:  Consistent attendance is important to each dancer’s education and development.  If class must be missed, please call the office or send an email ahead of time to let the instructor know of the absence and to be eligible for a make-up class.  No refunds or credits are provided for missed classes.

Make-Up Classes:  All make-up classes must be approved and scheduled in advance.  Please call the office or send an email to schedule a make-up class.

Discipline:  Every student deserves the opportunity to receive the best dance education possible in an atmosphere that is both structured and nurturing.  This requires students to listen attentively during class, not talk while the teacher is talking, not run or engage in horseplay, to treat the instructor and other students with respect, and to conduct themselves in a positive and polite manner.  If a student is found to be disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe in his/her actions, he/she may receive a warning, be asked to sit out of class activities, or be removed from the class depending upon the severity of the behavior.

Guest Observation:  Parents, siblings, and guests may not enter the studio while a class is in session.  Please observe dancers using the observation window.  The observation window blinds will remain open at the discretion of the instructor.

Bathroom/Dressing Room:  The bathroom/dressing room is located in the back of the studio and should only be accessed in between class times.  No one will be allowed to enter the studio, even to pass through to the bathroom, while class is in progress.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up:  The safety of our students is extremely important to us.  Please walk young students into the lobby rather than dropping them off in the parking lot.  Picking students up in the lobby is also preferred.  No students will be allowed to wait outside prior to or following a class.  We appreciate your cooperation with this matter.

Gum/Food/Drinks:  NO gum or food is allowed in any part of the studio, including the lobby and bathroom.  Only water that is in a closable container is allowed on the premises.

Parent-Teacher Communication:  The development and happiness of every dancer is important to us, and we enjoy sharing student progress with parents.  However, due to time constraints, this type of communication should occur outside of the studio.  Any questions, comments, or concerns should be addressed by phone, email, or by dropping a note into the Drop Box located in the lobby.  A staff member will contact you as soon as possible.

Tuition Payment:  Tuition has been calculated based on the number of classes within the dance year (Aug - May) and is the same each month regardless of the amount of lessons and/or weeks in the month and regardless of a student's attendance/absence.  Tuition is due on the 1st of the month and late after the 10th.  A $10 late fee will be assessed after the 10th day of the month.  A $25 fee will be charged for any returned checks.  To avoid unnecessary  fees, you may pay for the semester or year in advance or we encourage you to enroll in the AutoPay program, which automatically charges your credit card on the 1st of each month.

Withdrawal: Registration of a student is considered a commitment from August – May.  If a student must withdraw from The Dance Pointe for any reason, a written notice is requested prior to the 1st day of the upcoming month; otherwise, payment is considered due on the 1st as usual.

Always give your best effort, learn as much as possible, and most importantly…...have FUN!
